... I do not think we will ever learn. To add insult to injury, this water company is now showing the usual big corporations behaviour of maximising their profits by avoiding paying taxes. Not that I can blame them for that, as this has become such a common practice among the richest (and not so rich) that one cannot help but questioning if it actually is the morally right thing to do! Why care about the common good? After all chances are that somebody else will out-compete you if you do care, so why risk it? And who cares about the future and the potential world we may leave behind for our descendants? We cannot even predict what the weather is going to be in a couple of weeks time, why then should we even bother trying with some stupid unproven measures that may develop into a more sustainable future for us all?
The fact of the matter is that we do not give a shit about our shit. However Thame Water does give a shit about it, but only because it has given them the perfect excuse to increase their profits and to ensure future customers for a very long time.
Anyway, as they say, hope is the last thing you lose. I'm still hoping...
